Mulher Nua is a captivating wine from Quinta da Pellada, made from a blend of 70% field blend from old vines and 30% Touriga Nacional, sourced from different blocks. In the glass, it presents a deep ruby hue with violet reflections, offering an aromatic bouquet that is both vibrant and nuanced. The nose is filled with red and black fruit - wild berries, plum, and black cherry - intertwined with floral notes of violets and subtle hints of eucalyptus and fresh herbs, characteristic of the Touriga component.
On the palate, Mulher Nua is elegant yet concentrated, showcasing the complexity of the old vine field blend. The fruit profile is rich, with layers of blackberry, cassis, and raspberry, balanced by earthy undertones and a touch of minerality. The Touriga adds structure and intensity, bringing flavors of ripe dark fruits and a touch of spice, such as clove and black pepper. The wine has a refreshing acidity that complements its depth, and the tannins are fine but persistent, giving it a well-structured and balanced feel.
The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of dark fruit, spice, and a distinctive mineral quality that reflects the terroir of the Dão. Mulher Nua is a wine of great finesse and aging potential, where the combination of old vines and Touriga Nacional creates a harmonious blend of power, elegance, and complexity. A standout expression of Álvaro de Castro's winemaking philosophy and the Dão region's unique character.
