It is recommended to soak farro for a few hours (up to overnight) before cooking in order to soften the grains. For every cup of farro, use 2 ½ cups of water (or stock) and cook for approximately 40 minutes. Nutty in flavor, farro is chewier and firmer in texture than rice. Farro is ideal for both baking and cooking applications.
