After years of experience in the family winery, Castro Ventosa, and in Mendoza (Argentina) with the Michelini family, César Márquez Pérez, nephew of renowned oenologist from El Bierzo, Raul Pérez, made his first wines on his own.
In the facilities of La Vizcaína, César Márquez Pérez vinified, with wisdom and enthusiasm, small lots from the best vineyards in the area.
César Márquez Pérez Pico Ferreira is a wine made with Mencía from a vineyard of 0.3 hectares located in a site of Toral of the Vados, at 710 metres of altitude, planted on soils of decomposed slate, clay and slate in the rock.
After the manual harvest, and already in the winery, the whole bunches ferment in open barrels with native yeasts. Once the fermentation has finished, it is aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.
